Notes:

The Whatcom Humane Society was working out of 2 existing facilities that were in dire need of repairs when the board of directors contacted The Franklin Corporation for assistance.  The Franklin Corporation working in conjunction with the WHS, reviewed numerous facilities providing cost and constructability studies to match their budget and program.  The new Whatcom Humane Society was a complete renovation/redevelopment of an existing 10,720 s.f building and addition of approximately 8,100 s.f. of fully heated reception, support and kennel area.  The new building is unique in the fact that the Whatcom Humane Society combined all uses into a single structure which caused complex design and construction techniques. Along with new electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, the building also received a new ADA lift to service administrative offices on the 2nd floor.  The multi-acre site was reconstructed to provide exterior dog run facilities, storm retention ponds, new utilities, sidewalks, additional customer parking and extensive secured site fencing.  The project schedule was fast tracked and completed within a 6-month period ready for owner occupancy and use.
