Description:
Sunnyland Square consisted of the renovation of 44,000 s.f. of retail space and existing parking lot.
Notes:
Sunnyland Square was a unique project in that the existing building was built in several phases with several types of building methods, which required constant collaboration with the structural engineer in order to construct structural connections throughout the building process.
The majority of exterior walls were removed, shored, and reconstructed using a combination of structural steel moment frames and wood/metal infill framing. Following completion of exterior walls new storefronts, stucco and brick veneer were applied to building façade. Electrical upgrades were completed throughout to include removal of existing overhead service, which was replaced with new underground main service and distribution gear. Existing parking lot was completely reconfigured in order to allow for a new grocery user and increase car traffic throughout center following renovation.
